Offest - Quick question

Sorry to ask what may seem a simple question to most.
I just got myself a set of 15 x 7" sunraysia's with an offset of -6.
I have a WT sierra. The rims themselves without a tyre stick out
approx 1". Im thinking once the tyres are on the ruber will stick out a little further again.
So my question is, should I get a wheel with on offset of 14?
What do you recommend?
Thanks PAUL..

keep the offset. obviously youre not going to run std size tyres on 7" rims, so the offset will help avoid your tyres rubbing on body/springs.
or, if youre in brisbane, drop them off at my house and we will pretend this never happened ..

how bad is offsetting the rims for your wheel bearings?

haha oh no not this question again! =)
half of the guys will say it makes no difference and the other half will say it shreds them... i think its down to driving style.

i got 15x8s with -28 offset
sticks out past the guards, but just put bunnings garden edging plastic on to extend ya flares...
as for the wheelbearings, it's gonna put extra pressure on them but if u drive sensible enuf they'll prolly still last years. if ur gonna go jump dunes n stuff then u might find they wear out, tho that'll prolly be the least of ur worries

Did you buy the sunny's new, or 2nd hand...and from where?...how much?? I have a set of 15 x 7 Sunny's, but with 31"s they rub on the springs, had no drama;s with 235-75's, so I'm looking for some with a bigger (negative) offset

Purchased them new. Cost me $55 each and they were from Geelong.
How far past your guards do the Sunraysia's stick out at the moment?

afaik, -15 is the biggest offset off the shelf for 15x7 sunnies.
i think you can get -28 15x8's which sit out a long long way, makes a nt look as wide (maybe even wider) as a wt.
dont worry about it man, just whack some 235s or bigger muddies on there

They were an Italian brand of some sort. Can't quite remember off the top of my head and they are at work at the moment.
After reading a bit of info from this forum mainly Speedy seemed to be the way to go. ROH also make a sunraysia but their was something about backspacing that people weren't happy about. I think speedy were something like 4.5" and ROH were 2.5''.
Hope that helps.

I've got 31 x 10.5 muddies on now, and they don't stick out past the wide track guards at all...but the tyers do hit the springs on full lock

Might want to get more offset rims then so they dont rub as much.

Narrow track the front springs

Droopypete....that is an option I guess, but surely an easier option would be to get wheels with a wider offset??!! Not only will it fix my problem, but will increase the track, making for a more stable rig!!

With those offsets, the WMS to inner edge of the rim (backspace) is the same for the 7' as the 8's, all the extra width (ie. 1") is carried on the "outside" of the rim. So if you are fouling the springs/chassis with the 15 x 7' (-15mm), then you will also foul wit the 15 x 8's (-28mm)

well there we go, no extra backspacing on an 8" rim. sure does look a lot wider tho.
