Hi Guys,
Just test drove a 91 lux 2.8 diesel and when excelerating anything past half throttle there was a ticking noise coming from what sounded like around the exhaust manifold.
Anyone have any suggestions on what this might be or whether it would be an expensive fix??????
You help appreciated.
Cheers
Zam

yep, sounds like exhaust gasket is gone
easy to fix, my last car tho it went 6-7 times
i broke the bolts on it so many times,
edit:
u could start it when the engine is cold and feel around it when reving
but if u just went in it as a once off well who cares

did you machine the manifold? blowing that many gaskets sounds like it's warped
also might be the flange gasket on the exhaust

if you're changing the exhaust manifold gasket you may as well do the flange at the same time.

Yeah, thanks guys, that's what Iw as thinking the exhaust gasket, will check that one out.
I most likely will be puchsingthis lux so will be able to give it a full check over, and yes a extractors and bigger exhaust will be on the cards, hahaha.
Anyways, what else should I be checking out apart from this ticking noise everything else seems solid, starts first time, no smoke, idles at 800 smooth gears changes no visible leaks, interior immaculate, no rust, body in very good condition.
it has only done 138000 for a 91 model which I think it very low.
So things are looking pretty good just waiting on the guy to get a RWC.
