Does anyone know how much a k&n filter costs for a 1.3?
Does anyone have any feedback from using them?
Cheers

Check a thread calles "Don´t change your airfilter" or something close to that. Cut past all the bullshit posted on the thread and read about the test done on air filters. K&N were the worst of the lot when it came to filtering. They let through more air than standard filters maybe but to what cost?
AC Delco were superior to any other filters.
Ingthorsson.
ps: The bullshit is kinda funny though!

maybe $120 could be better spent on a snorkle fab weekend..
cool air, and increased wading depth sounds better than k&n imo anyway..

isnt more air than a standard filter what u want for increased performance? ive used k &n for years on my v8s and zook and always had better performance.

K&N have always been reputable in my opinion, but have never used em. More air will perform better, but will probably filter less, hurting your engine long-term. Ideally, performance wise you'd be best off running without any filter whatsoever correct me if I'm wrong, to get the maximum amount of airflow.

imho kand n dont let any dirt thru thats why they r washable, and u spray them with that funky pink oil.

nicbeer had fine sand getting through a K&N filter.
fine sand in the cylinder... mmmm..... abrasive....
He said that he knew of people that have and haven't had this problem.
Based on what he said I've just opted for stock at the moment.

Personally, I wouldnt value a pod style filter in a 4wd environment. In a street car without the mud and dust, it might be a different story.
For me, theres better ways to get more power than risking it on a bling filter. I'd put that 120 towards a 1.6 engine. Sure, your'e gunna need a few k&n's to make a 1.6, but thats what I'd do.

Its not a pod type, it goes in the air filter box.

His point still does apply.
You would rarely encounter fine sand in a street car that always stays on the blacktop.
While if you often go on the beach or the dunes its going to be a real issue.
Plus the problem with getting a re-usable filter is that when you do have fine sand or whatever else getting in, the manufacturer can always say, you didn't install it properly, you didn't use enough/used too much oil, didn't clean it properly etc. Bottom line is it's not their fault
.
I personally decided it wouldn't really offer that great increase in performance or practicality for the risk.

I am running a snorkel and a K&N filter in my Zook and have no issues with either. But....if you ever get your Zuki onto a dyno, disconnect the snorkel, they will impact on the dyno figures. The ram air effect only delivers on the street... or tracks.

I put a K&N pod filter on my girlfriends zook. It cos $69 from Autobarn (they hav em on special now and then). Its the tapered one with a 3 inch pipe. Fits perfectly onto the stock box that goes on top of the carby. Its been on there for a year now, goes and sounds great. They also have a lifetime warranty.

Jump on K&N's website.. plenty of data on it filtering minimum of 90-something percent (they point out this is not an average but the filtering capabilities of the worst filters due to OEM shape and that the same filters filtered much lower figures... i'm not going to look up specifics you know what to do etc)
I also read that independent website but i feel the guy set out to prove performance filters where useless where as K&N has to submit it's patented results to a goverment body
I've had my filter for 2000km's and had not had any trouble and engine did feel a bit more responsive and less gasping for air.. my rev's dropped from just under 900rpm to dead 800-ish at idle!
I am in no way sponsored by K&N or it's affiliates
