Outer Limits 4x4 Board

What's the average cost to go straight gas or dual fuel on a tb42 (GQ). It's got 188000 on the clock but my economy is woeful (~27L/100ks) with a 4"lift and 35s. I've gotten a quote for ~3000! for dual fuel conversion which is almost the value of a new chev engine.

So, Is it too late for my engine (using as daily driver and for short trips) and should i just wait till it blows and replace,
Or is there a cheap way to go gas as save for the next few years.
Also do you need engineers for gas conversion?

ive been gettin quotes for this as well, and have recieved quotes from $2000 to $3000, where in NSW are you?

I just sold my Gas kit out of my GQ for $1000. The tank is only 18 months old. All up it is costing the people $1280 to get it fitted and approved by a Pro Gas fitter. I recomend just running straight Gas and shop around for a duel Fuel tank later if it is nessasary for those out of town trips.

I had my Mav converted 5 years ago and it cost 2300. I am thinking of converting my next vehicle (Toyota Lexus) too but was informed that the kits are getting very expensive, seem to be increasing every week.

The price of petrol is pushing up the demand for the kits.

A second hand kit in good contion might be the go, maybe sourced from a rig that was converted to run on the oily stuff.

I have a kit here that I had installed in an earlier datto (dount tank though) and would be interested in getting it hooked up. problem would be the tank, though still full of gas and pressurised, might need recertification (dunno exacly manufacture date it's in the spares boxes)

At the time it cost $1500 installed. Seriously WTF $3000 for a gas system?????

If I'm up for that then I'll be shipping an LPG LWB up drom melbourne instead - you can buy the whole frickin car there on gas for like $5000
