253 in an 84 Hilux

A mate has put a 253 V8 into his 84 Hilux 4x4 ute, he want to have a taller gear ratio to get the rpm down
What is the best way to achieve this?

bigger tyres. instant fix with other benefits

He currently has it on 31's and does not want to give it a lift to fit bigger tyres.

higher ratio centers are the other option but a lot of farkin around
I have the same overgearing problem. I'm going to supercharge my way out of it
That'll get the highway speeds back........ fark the revs
