SPOA - How to remove draglink

Hey,

The car is all jacked up and it's in progress. I just have 2 questions.

1. How the #$%# do you get the drag link off? I have tried to search it and I can only find "use a hammer" or "use a ball joint splitter" . How exactly to these things come apart? The nut is off and I tried hammering it off but it almost seems as though the drag link and the thread are the same piece, obviosly not since there is a nut on it. Anyone?

I don't have a ball joint splitter, I have a hammer and tried it but didn't want to break anything till I knew how it worked.


2. Is it really necessary to angle the rear perches 3-4 degrees to the stock perches so the driveshaft angle is right? I have seen places say weld them parallel to the existing perches. The perches I have are supposed to drop straight on and self align, but that aligning is parellel to existing ones. Is it worth the extra work of grinding the perches so that they can be angled or will they be fine if I just weld them level?


Thanks for any info, I'll be getting them welded tomorrow.

try hitting where the tapered part of the tierod goes into( what the nut does up against) it should free it up enough for it to pop of, as for perch angle you have to point the pinion up to compensate for the extra angle on ur drive shaftsi think i had mine set about seven degrees more than standard mind u i had about a 6" lift.

what did the perches set u back? and where from.

I agree with the hammer the tapered bit.

I think about $130 including shipping. They are SKY perches, I think they are the best ones you can get, rocky-roads look good too but not as well made, there is some serious work in these, they are all welded up, the rocky-road ones are more like cut out of a piece of tube, the top plate looks narrower and just not as precision made (http://www.sky-manufacturing.com). And on top of that they are cheaper and on shipping too, they charge actual shipping, not inflated shipping or inflated weights. I hope they fit as well as they look and all will be sweet.

Still not sure on whether the rear must be angled or not. If you follow the link you can see what the perches look like and how they just fit right in, it kinda seems like they are intended to just sit parallel. I might have to wait until tomorrow morning until the eastern states guys get up.
