Hey,

My GQ 4.2 petrol 12V, Keeps melting the H4 headlight plug,

Seemd like they are not earthing properly or something dude to excess heat traveling down earth wire?

Does anyone have any ideas.

if is is a bad earth, Could I just run another earth to the Body.?

Cheers stewie..

is it only on the negative side that is melting? if so, then i would say that you probably have a hot joint on the negative. and you will have to remidy that. if its the whole fitting that is melting you should check to make sure the correct wattage lamp is being installed.

If it's melting then you've got some resistance in the connection (that's assuming the globe is the correct wattage?)

The resistance combined with high current flow will generate heat.

Personaly, I would continue to run the spade conectors, run a new earth straight to body and new power wires from relay*if you have one.) i have even had the original ipf looms melt with only 100 watt globes, and since redoing wiring witj simplicity havent had a problem.

You could spend 3 hours looking for the problem or 1 hour fixing it for good ! ;)
