What do I need to do to change the rear brakes on my mav to discs. If I get an axle housing with discs and calipers off another mav would it just be a case of putting my axle and diff in the new housing? Any help appreciated

You will have to get a complete rear disc brake housing, axles, callipers and discs.
I am sure the drum axles are different.
You can use your 3rd member.
You will have to change the master cylinder to a disc/disc MC
cheers

Pretty sure people have just swaped the whole axle over with no issues. They havnt even changed the mastercylinder.
As all the control arms are the same.
Does the drum brake rear have the proportioning valve. If not you will need this also.

ok i didn't think i would need to change axles over aswell. As for the proportioning valve I have no idea. Will have to check that when it comes back from the workshop. Hales are you speaking from experience about the different axles? Might be more effort than what its worth by the sound of it.

I changed mine from drum to disc. all i did was change the whole axle setup over. brake lines hooked straight up. drum setups still have the prop valve and the master cylinder was fine from original.

I did this conversion years ago.
The axles by memory "are" different.
The drum axles are set up to adjust the bearing pre-load same as MQ
They take diferent bearing design.
You probably can use the same MC but I think the disc/disc MC
has a built in residual of 2PSI which will stop the disc pads from
moving to far from the rotor resulting in more pedal travel for the first brake.
At the end of the day if it were me I would get a complete disc/disc
rear diff ,MC and bolt it all in.
