Anyone tried using dual rear wheels off road ?
I was thinking of putting a smaller diameter tractor mud tyre (say 29 or 30 inch) on an inside rim , that way it helps when you are in the mud but on the highway it is clear of the bitumen.

I think that doing that you will be adding much unneeded stress on bearings and axles. When you think about it, in the end you will probably be better off skiping the duelies.
i have seen it doen on a hilux for a mud event a few years back, i think it was at nissan trials, or some where like that, he ended up snapping a CV within seconds.

I once ran a set of dual 6.00/16 bar treads on the rear of my 1 litre Sierra in an obstacle event. It made a hell of a difference to traction, especially in mud. This was, however, purely an off road event, and was not a speed event, purely obstacle, so there was not a lot of stress on the drivetrain. I dont think I'd like to drive with them on road.
