Roll Cages & CCDA

I understand there have recently been some changes to the rollcage requirements for CCDA Winch Challenge type events......mainly the need for a 6 point roll cage. Is anyone able to confirm the roll-cage requirements for a single cab (cab-chassis) vehicle for use in CCDA Winch Challenge events??

I've downloaded a copy of Version 5 (May 2005) of the CCDA Manaul, and Section 5.6.1 Cab Chassis Vehicles states:

Due to space considerations in the cabin of cab chassis vehicles, either a flexible joint shall be used through the rear of cab bulkhead or two separate roll cages shall be constructed.

The main rollbar in the cabin shall be within 150mm of the occupants' heads, but shall not overhang the occupants. If there is sufficient room within the cabin, the two diagonal braces may be within the main roll bar to the rear of the cab.

Can I take this to mean that a 4 point cage within the cab, plus a 4 point cage attached to chassis / deck is ok for this application??? I would rather not cut holes through the rear of the cab and use a flexible joint as they've recommended, so two independent 4 point cages would be preferred.

I've asked for clarification from Smithy Jnr on this rule, but no reply as yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Mitch

I believe 2, 4 point CCDA spec cages will suffice.

I understand from the rules that you require a 4 point internal and a 4 point (ie hoop and supports) on the tray
