Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have a 2.4 Turbo Diesel in a bundy that is using alot of water i think it is the head gasket. It has no water in the oil.
Has anyone had this problem and how hard is it to change the head gasket?
Is there anything i should no before i start?

Firstly how much is alot of water, and have you done anything like this before to an engine. If it is the head gasket there is proberly another problem somewhere.

my 2.4 hilux did this non turbo only used a small amount off water and it was a cracked head

Have you had it pressure checked? might just be a leak somewhere

heathus is right on the money - there are a lot of places in the turbo bundy cooling system for leaks to develop, and a running temp pressure test is the only way to find them. also have a garage test the vapour in the top of the radiator for carbon dioxide (most workshops will have the tool), presence of carbon dioxide indicates head gasket damage or head cracks. The bad news is that the 2:-T motor is quite prone to head cracks especially between the valves. often the cracks don't cause any problems but sometimes they cause a premature death to an otherwise healthy engine.

my 2L uses about 3litres of water per 600km or so. Is this a potential cylinder head or gasket problem? Theres no evidence of any leaks that I can find.

have the cooling system pressure tested at running temperature, and have the radiator CO2 tested, have the engine compression and leakdown tested. Outside of that you're only guessing.
