Yet another dual battery question :)

Post by ausyota »

In my Lux Im planning on fitting a really small battery in the engine bay for starting only (so I can fit OBA) and a BIG battery under the tray for everything else including (fridge, big stereo, winch, spotlights, headlights, worklights and all other accesories).
See http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... 338#566338

My question is what is the best dual battery system to use with this sort of setup?

I understand that the solinoid systems and also the marine switch systems dont like charging two very different sized batteries in parralel.
Is this true?
Do I need one of the "smart" systems?

I noticed on some of the smart systems that they charge the start battery first and then when thats full they charge the second battery.
What about when you are running all the lighting on the rig off of the aux battery wouldnt you want that to be getting charge straight away?
Paul.
