guys,

Are 60 series front and rear diff centres interchangeable?

got a front complete and a rear minus centre, and have a mate with a front centre.... will it go in the rear?

also wat ratio is standard 60 diffs? are they different between models / motors?

the wagon that the new front centre is from has a 2H diesel in it, mid 80s.

I'm no expert, but a mate used my old front diff centre (60 series) in the rear of his troopy, so they're pretty interchangeable. I replaced my entire diff/axle assemblies with some off a Japanese diesel with lockers...the ratios were the same.

I'm pretty sure the front and rear are interchangeable...don't know the ratios, but I also think that the petrol and diesel ratios are different.

up to about 1988 they are exactly the same (limo/locker optional at rear, locker optional front), from then on a limo was standard rear but the they are sill completely interchangable.

yay welded!

three easy ways:

1. it will have a sticker on the back of it that says 'LSD oil only'

2. the AXLE code on the build plate (on the firewall) ends in 3 or 5

3. jack up both back wheels with first gear selected, handbrake OFF. try and turn one wheel - with LSD it will be hard to turn (should be impossible to turn by hand but toyota LSD's are pretty weak). open diff it will just turn the opposite wheel the opposite direction.

Definately no LSD oi lonly on the diffs, maybe tonight if possible i'll check the plate for the axle code. It's pissin down rain so I'm not jackin it up. So the LSD are shit are they...

it's highly likely that your '85 is open diff.
