All autos drop shit into the filters. Depends how much.
I remember when I got mine back from service at 90K, the guy had seriously noted "material in filter".
I said isn't that normal . He said well yeah I guess so.
They have to protect themselves.
I think a teaspoon is OK but more is worse., and of course depends how long since the last service if ever.

Yep.
At only 120,000 klm my ZF went 'whizz.'
Clutch pack 'A' slowly and utterly disintergrated, to the point where all the gluggy bits finally blocked the filter pick up and then all forward motion totally ceased.
Strip down showed everything else was A1 - the other clutch packs still had lettering on their friction plate surfaces!!
The apparent cause was a dodgey solenoid that overly increased the line pressure to clutch pack 'A' (main drive input) causing premature wear.
I've heard over-revving in either Neutral or Park can have the same effect.
Auto boxes are still a mystery to me, but the above scenario seemed to make sense seeing as though I had to cough up a few bucks to get it fixed.
Hobes - If you're in SEQ I can recommend a few places for rebuild.
