4x4 vw beetle buggy

has anyone ever thaught of using a vw beetle as a base for a buggy as you have a cab and all the pedels are already there and all the seat mounting and the firewall and floor from what i have been thinking all you have to do is make the chassis section (as most people would say "tube it") and mount the running gear. its just a thaught at the moment and vw shells are cheap enough and they are fairly strong so has anyone else had strange delusions like this?

Just been reading about converting a 1500 VW motor to be steam powered!

Constant torque from 0 rpm...silent...no gearbox.

Would be something different to have in a buggy, apart from the scary thought of having a 500psi boiler about 1m from you.

whats more stupid than a rangie and a beetle,
a beetle on a rangie,
Atleast a beetle has bigger wheel arches than a rangie

hows about copping the top off a beetle and putting a rangie body on it

Who cares if it's only 2 % vw. It is heaps cooler and certainly more original than a lifted gq.
