gday guys, ive got a front air locker for my 94 vit, i want to change over to 26 spline shafts to suit the locker, do i have to change the whole cv or just the inner stub cv shafts. i called up a wreckers they quoted 200 bucks for each side complete

you can change just the inner stub, and inner axle on the passager side.

Make sure that you have a spare pair of CV's with you in your car.

Your other option is to look at the calmini Anvil axle, this uses two bolt on left hand CV's, meaning that changing one after it's broken is much easier as you don't have to pull the fragments out of the diff housing.

There's also a thread on pirate 4x4 about a guy who's installed a Toyota IFS front diff to his Vitara. Much stronger than the original unit.

The other problem that is common amongst the Alloy housings is the lower mount breaking off, many have overcome this by welding a brace onto the housing to help elimenate the weak link.
