zook that went for a swim
zook that went for a swim
Hey, i went for a swim in my zook.. it wasnt deep to start off with but ended up getting deeper and deeper.. water was going over the bonnet :| :|
It has no snorkle..
Anyways the sierra seems to be still around OKAY except.. i went to mechanic and they said gear bearings are loose (prob from ages back anyways)..
and my choke is not closing properbly when idle.. so after i go for a 2 minute drive it idles higher as the choke stays a little bit open..
ANy ideas what i should do?
I have sprayed all electronics with CRC and i have dried out the air filter which was wet...
There appears to be no water in the oil
get back to me PLEASE
thankxs guys

i had a high idle and it was one of two things... alternator compensating for poor output, or dirty carburettor (probably the pilot/idle jet). try and see if the revs increase when you turn the headlights on. if yes look at the alt. i'd probably want to strip the carby down and clean it anyway just to be sure.
hmm. Mine do if i do highbeam because of the load.
Ususally if the carb is ok it will idle up. the actuator is on the front of the carb on my old one. you should be able to see it move with someone else turning the lights on and off.
the idle thing. Is this when cold or anytime it will idle higher. Did it do this before?
cheers

seems to run okay now.. it said do not spray when engine is running..
so i wasnt going to risk it..

another handy tip if you want to get rid of the carbon off the pistons and valves is to get a spray bottle filled with water and with it on a mist spray spray it in the carb while the motor is running and it will clean all the carbon deposits away

me too
i went though a serious puddle the other day as well. The gold coast was flooded so me and a mate went out to burleigh. Went into a puddle too fast and got water on the dizzy. Waited a few minutes with water comming in, tried it again and she started sweet. Lesson learnt: Drive slowly into water and try to motor through. unless you have a choo choo deisel.
haha u were in deep that day i would have been screwed i think, not having a snorkel. did u find the leak in ur tank?suzy wrote:those carbs don't like water at all but it's hard to say i had trouble with mine after going in deep one day,and to make it wors i stalled it and had to be towed out buy a hilux.
Suzywest in midland have a good range of stuff.
what area are you.
yea, the guys at suziwest are very helpful. if they cant help, they'll point u in the right direction.
I put mine vertical in a very deep puddle once, the puddle looked a few "'s deep but disapeared, went down til the bullbar was sitting on the bottom, water was up to the bottom of the windscreen and filled the footwells in the front nice and deep, the impact on the bottom forced the radiator back and it snapped the timing belt lol, had to get towed back out and get a new timing belt
i thimk the fuel tank filled up with water through the cap.it still havn't drained it fully yet,and at least my snorkel does work not one drop in the air box.camor wrote:haha u were in deep that day i would have been screwed i think, not having a snorkel. did u find the leak in ur tank?suzy wrote:those carbs don't like water at all but it's hard to say i had trouble with mine after going in deep one day,and to make it wors i stalled it and had to be towed out buy a hilux.
