Ouch

Post by Ferwoaza »

Driving to work on Wednesday.

Heard a rattle, quickly followed by a massive griding noise, followed by car dying on me at 100kph

Gearbox just went boom

Suspect gears are stripped, so rebuild probably out of the question, 2nd hand box is around $950.

ouch

People, if you hear funny metalic noises coming from under your Feroza, and it's been doing it for a year or so...pay attention, get it looked at..

:D ;)

Might be buying an 80series next week...can't keep chucking money at this thing anymore...

Damn! That's expensive- is it a reco box, or just one pulled from a wreck?

I found a site last night that sell rebuild kits for the gearboxes (new bearings, seals etc.), but doesn't sound like that will be much use to you.

i had one built from two. 2nd handy from wrecker - $500..... usign bits and pieces out of each, and new bearing and seal kit - all up about $1400 including labour. I thought this was a better way to go rather than just throwing the 2nd handy in, as we got a warranty etc.

It'll be sad to see the mighty Ferwoaza go, but bigger and better things
