Getting a 4Runnner got some questions!

So in the near future I plan on buying my friend's 1985 4 Runner it has the 2.4L. I want to do a few mods but nothing major and well I'm new so I have questions. First of I plan on getting 33" BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. How much lift do I need for it, would just like a 2" body lift cover it or should I get the 3" suspension lift.. Also whats the diffrence between the full lift kit or the one where it addes a rear leaf, will these tires fit the stock rim?.. Also what are some cheap ways to get some extra power out of the obviously weak engine..
