Legalities of front tube body in NSW

just wondering if anyone knows how legal it is to chop the front of a body off at the firewall and tube the front and mating up with the factory body mounts? the front would be tubed with existing panels bolted on.
this is what i'm thinking of

That would be interesting to see the answers on that question. The only thing i could think is that you will have to keep the original bonnet.

You would also have to retain sufficient coverage of the tyre, probably better off with an exo.

apart from looking downright sexy, and being totally unique
you can fit bigger tyres without having to have so much lift
you'll get a lot less damage if you scrub a rock or a tree as the tube will take all the impact
and you'll get a much better approach angle

Is it for race of recreation with highway use?
Stumpy asked if it were legal. On face value I think an engineer would best answer that one. I am untrained but the manufacturers have designed some crushability or do they call that frangability into the front end.
Race cars get away with it but they are not on the main highways and therefore the ADR's don't apply.

not to sure on this, but id be leaning towards no, as you have removed the factory crumple zones, and there will be no crahs testing involved, but talkin to an engineer is your best option,

sam keck did this to his first suzuki and it was registered, wouldnt it be the same for a lux

dont think it is legal
ur best bet is to pm germo
look in the members section for his rig it used to have a tube front clip on it but i am pretty sure he couldnt get it registered
so now it has a normal front clip on it

You say chop at the firewall... Don´t the front guards unbolt at the firewall anyway???
As said before, an engineer would best answer this Q, but I reckon if it is identical to original from the outside you should find an engineer that will pass it... just got to fine em!!!!

reason for considering it is to allow it to have similar characteristics of a buggy yet still be driven, whenever and where ever. the thought would be to have bolt on bolt off guards that would styled similar to that of a 40 series for on road use.
i haven't seen it done to a lux in australia and wanna be the first
