Brake Fade

I'm getting brake fade on longer downhills. I can smell the pads, and the hub assembly gets pretty hot on the front wheels. The front wheel bearings are due to be replaced, I'm wondering if this has something to do with the heat buildup?
Its a 91 Hilux (disc front, drum rear)

Check and make shaw that the disc is free from mud, most disc's are hollow for cooling and they might be full off crap and the air can't get in.

Yep, all clear of mud. Theres an ugly brown line bout an inch wide running round each disc too.

Sounds like they are burnt up and glazed to me.
Get them machined when you do you bearings. Do you get pedal pulsation whilst braking?

No pulsation.
Does the hub usually warm up during normal driving? If its warm on the outside then I'm thinking it could be pretty hot on the inside. ie wheel bearing etc

Bearings will heat up etc but within tolerance, you should be able to touch the hubs IMO. A lil heat shouldn't be a problem at all, and remember that the brakes are passing heat too so it may not all be bearing heat. I know I can't touch my rims after a hard drive.
