my GQ could do with some longer panhards after the lift. what do you guys think of this idea. cut original panhards in middle, sleeve with some heavy walled tube and lengthen them a couple of inches. am i dicing with death? has anyone here done this? should i just save the cash and buy the adjustable type? does the panhard rod carry heavy stress loads or is it soley to keep the axle in alignment. im thinking that it would have a bit of load 0n it when the axles flex out

Panhards cope a bit of a hiding. You'd be better off saving for some heavy duty items.

i can see the panhard taking a few forces while driving, and i also see a pob if you have an acco and they can blame thew panhard, youll be up shit creek without a paddle,
just get your self some 3rds panhars, they look very neat and well constructed, and come with genuine rubber bushes,

like said above.. you'll be up shit creek if you risk your life on that..
get a properly engineered panhard from a supplier.

Ive seen Panhards split the end rings and tubes bend.
Get Aftermarket. Many Many supplier, 3rds, MAnells, Whiteline, Cheesy, Mal Leslie (my choice)
Dont realy need adj. Just 12 to 15mm longer.

I cut mine in half and sleved it with steam pipe. It lasted for awhile but now has a slight bend in it. I did this after bending the std one a couple of times until it broke. And its replacement got bent also.
Have heard that the 3rds adjustable panhard rods are very good, as they have a fine thread. So they tighten up better and want come loose as easy.

I desperately need a longer front one..my right wheel sits over an inch out of the flare, and the left wheel a good inch in from the flare
whenever I go wheeling I end up with mud sprayed all up the drivers side but the passenger side stays clean!
anyone know how much they are?

Goto
http://www.3rdsproductions.com.au and you'll find all the prices and info you need. I run 3rd's gear as you know and I can't fault it. Having said that, there are quite a few good manufacturers. Fernando has done a lot of work and his backup is greaat and is always asking for feedback.

3rds thread is definatrly finer than the other i have seen, wizards, toughdogs, snake, and makes for a more precise adjustment,, and the locking nuts seem to tighten up really well,
i run 3rds on my shorty, and wizards on my GQ and dads GU,.
id go the 3rds

i cut sleeved and welded about 4 years ago and only replaced them 2 months ago with some rockcrawler adjustables, which are obviously the ultimate way to go(adjustable), i had no probs and we did some hard weelin, i used steam pipe about 2 foot long, it was tight around the original welded each end and we drilled about 6 holes in the steam pipe and filled it with weld to stop any movement, just dont let the transport inspector see it, quite illegal i imagine!!!, have fun
