Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I currently have a 2" lift on my truck. This comprises 4 tough dog shocks and 4 coils.

I want to goto a 4" lift by:

1) Using blocks on the coils to gain an extra 2".

and

2) either, fabricate some 2" lift blocks for the shocks,

or

3) repostion the shock mountings (and weld), to accomodate the extra 2" lift.

Is this possible.

My present coils and shocks are only for a 2" lift and I don't want to buy any new shocks or coils.

why not go 4 new coils, and shocks that will work better than bodging up what you have.
then sell what you have to offset the costs.?
or go a 2inch body lift to give you 4in in total?

What sort of truck??
you can get 1, 2 & even 3 " coil spacers for TJ's.....but really they are best used to compensate for sag due to winch/heavy bumper etc..... or a slight lift.
MAIN things to remeber are:\
1. Lower your bump stops by the same amount as the coil spacer or you WILL over compress the coil and kill it really quick.
2. You'll want longer shockies to suit the new ride height.

As for losing wheel travel - well that really depends on what's limiting your wheel travel - if it's your shockies currently, you might find with the new shockies you actually gain wheel travel (longer stroke). BUT if something else now limits the down travel you could get less......

why do you want to go to a 4" lift?

Because your tyres are rubbing, or you want bigger tyres or you reckon it looks cool?

Your suggestions probably aren't the best solution but without more detail its going to give a more detailed answer.

I'm always of the opinion that less lift is better and if stuff gets in the way cut it off. This is ok on a beater or if you are ok cutting into your truck maybe not so on a brand new 80k truck.
