Yes i have hit the 'SEARCH' button here and elsewhere and haven't found any info i need so i'd thought i'd ask.
Just wondering if anyone can tell me any information about a G15A motor.
Need to know what i would need to put power steer to this engine and where would be the best place to find this (ie: has anyone done it or can it be done)

The first thing we'll need to know is what the engine came out of so we can ask around if the car that the motor came out of i think you should be able to hook up p/s somehow....

G15A is a JDM swift motor usu=ing the same block as the g16a with shorter stroke.. i pretty certan it was not available ina North sout set up
but i could be wrong

also out of the import baleno's. Santos is correct. Its a G16 block, so any vitara gear should bolt straight up

It is out of an earlier model Baleno.(i had that posted originally but didn't think it was of much relevant info
)
I have spoken to Rod Reardon (who did this motor) and 00ZUK and they assure me this can be done with parts being easy to locate.
Thanks all.

i thought i read baleno the first time then when i replied and it wasn't there.
The G15a is a weird motor to choose unless it's super cheap cause you are getting the same block but missing out on an extra 25cc per cylinder
Unless it's in EFI? After all the american and japanese market suzuki engines all went TBI in 1990 Then i could understand easier tunability.

According to Rod this particular motor has been tweaked here and there
and is actually a little more impressive than the standard 1.6L and it is carburetted.
I have no complaints with it at all, alot of pulling power (with rockhopper and 5.1 diffs) with an excellent throttle response
Just wish it already had power steer set up on it

What pulleys does it have, v belt or multi v?
Not sure but I think the earlier model Vits had v belts, someone may like to correct me if they know for sure.
My 1600 is a 99 model and has multi v. If yours has the same i'd be looking at later model vits or 1.6 swifts.
What box are you going to use?

the G15's are more capable of more rev's than the G16's due to the shorter stroke and G16's have a tendency to throw conrods after 8000rpm
G15's keep on goin hard
And we all love to rev the crap out of our suzuki's now don't we !!!

Power steering should go onto any engine as the engine just supplies the circular motion to run the pump. All the gear from a wrecked Vitara should do the job for you.
Cheers

Thanks Steve.
Good to know the motor likes to rev
Rod has put an Izuzu power steer box in and we couldnt of asked for a more perfect fit, now we hope the rest of the conversion is just as easy
. He said he might like zooks yet
But i'll definately give you a call if we run into any probs with sourcing other parts.
Drop by sometime to check it out.

Just my 2 cents!
I have a G15A with a 1.3 GTi head. Everything is the same as 1600 vitara efi engine except the timing belt which is an odd one. I use the G15A cause i am running a WRX turbo hanging off it. Revs its tits off and makes power all the way to 9000rpm!!
Very good little block indeed!
But just a thought, the 1500 block is a low compression block and the gti head is high compression so mate the 2 together and its a bit of a dog but its perfect for a turbo! Found that all out the hard way!!

Which is also why 1.6s have a nicer torque curve than 1.3 or 1.5. It's not necessarily the increase in displacement that does it but the increase in the stroke. 1.3 & 1.5 are same stroke but different bore size.

I will be swapping over to lux diffs so the 4.5 ratio will decrease my revs.
Atm.....5.12 ratio 5th gear 4500rpm=80km's (uphill/downhill..no difference)

how far can a 1300 be bored then? do you happen to know rods/gudgeon size differences? is block height same as 1300?
i happen to like revs

The swift brethren claim the largest bore is 78mm..
Which gives you the total of 1443cc.. if you got a G13A rod (from the ol' 1324cc motor
) you could get it to 1470cc (which i think is how the Suzisport get there '1.5l' upgrade)
still.. the g16 block is taller so you can't go switch rods and stuff
