Modified front radius arms

Hi all

Just been doing a bit of R&D in my lunchtime and came across www.qtservices.co.uk

They manufacture very sweet looking front radius arms for lifted Rangie's that correct castor.

Firstly, does anyone have any experience with this product; and

secondly, will using these cause any drive-shaft vibration.

Try http://www.lrautomotive.com.au/100.html for a local opinion

I have some Rovertym cranked arms and a double cardon driveshaft and stilll have some driveline vibration. Haven't ruled out a worn transfer case though. Lots of people seem to use cranked arms without problems.

Seen them, look really weak as they are not solid like the originals.

Michael...I have seen yours before in a previous thread....have you had any issues with vibration?

Did you just heat and bend using your line of sight to get the correct angles?

removed arms.

Drew as per Std.
relocated chassy mount point 75mm higher.
then bent arms to suit.

I run a high pinion front diff so no issues. (toy)

I run the rovertym units, and am extremely happy with them :D

the QT arm where made mainly for comp safari's and as such were built to be light.

as stated they are made from flat bar in a "H" configuration as are Scorpion Racing's equivelant.

feed abck is mixed and i personaly would like some rovertym arms.

dadylonglegs bent his cold .
seem to hold up well.
can't do this with nissan arms though, they shatter :x

rover arms are made from soft metal,

hardly effects the material when you heat to bend.

The qt parts are very weak, I wanted to buy them sometime ago, but was told that they don´t do the job.
Good quality are those from www.equipe4x4.com in Italy.
But they cost 1300 Euros

what ratios and tyre size do you run? what toyotas have the 4.1 and 4.3 ratios for front(HP) and rear, and what prices can be expected to pay for centres and the conversion the machining for the toyota cvs isn't a problem, also what would 91 rangie centres/axles be worth to sell off?
sorry about all the questions a mate wants me to help him do the conversion.

QT arms weak? erm are you sure?

got to admit Ive never known them to bend, I had a few sets fitted to my cars as standard and we beat the shit out of them with no worries and no faiures. Im running fat tyres and 10" Mach Fives giving a wheel weight of approx 55kgs - dont confuse lightweight with strength.

Scorpion on the other hand is known locally as Scrapiron racing for a good reason - it just breaks . It is just a poor copy of Equipe.

Are these the standard items but reworked/ bent?

Yes these are the standard items.

Heat them up and bend them to fit bush. You want your bushing to be paralle at fitting point.
What I did is got a readius arm from a junk yard bent it made sure it fit ok and then bent the actual radius arms accrodingly.
If I was closer to you i would have sent you the prototype :lol:

The equipe stuff looks beef. Are those radius arms solid billets machined into shape??

Yes they´re solid.
I´ve seen them some weeks ago at an offroad-show.

Jay,

Nice work man - I've been looking at linking my front with a 5 link, the links from Zahle, at 30$ each with the joints, will prove cheaper and a better option.

Question - did the tires not get closer to the front door after you bent the arms? Logically, the distance between the pin and the first bush has decreased...

?

I can only speak as I find, I know the QT ultralights look skinny but they're not weak - I'm not going on what bloke from the pub says based on some pics he's seen in a mag, I've flattened a fair number trees/stumps/fences/Suzuki SJs with ultralight equipped trucks and no probs so far.

Equipe is nice gear but € 1300 a pair? QT ultralights Zinc passivated with castor correction weigh in at € 250 a pair
