Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi all just wondering if any one ese has had problems with the bead on simex extreme trekkers, ive had the bead leak on 2 dffernt tyres on different rims. I also tore the side wall out on one last week so there not very cut resistant either. they are very good in mud but thats about it.

must be why most of the people in the Outback Challenge use em!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m running Simex extreme trekkers 35x10.5 on 7inch rims. On my light Suzuki, NO Beadlocks. Running 4.5psi in the front and 3.5psi in the rear. Locked front and rear, front full hydro steering. Tire sidewall creases under the pressure of the steering. Haven’t lost a bead yet. Love the tires.

thats what i thought they would be like i'm managing to break the seal only slightly with 30psi it pisses me off

i had a set of JT2 witch did not do it for me i got 2 punchers in 2 weeks and i though they where shit in all terain my half bald set of radial claws did just as good.
but i know people that run extreme trekkers and love them

I hit a large rock at a very fast pace and had 30 + psi in the tyres. I bent up both left hand rims and blew the air out of both of the tyres aswell. The only problem I had was bashing the rims straight enough to get the tyres to reseat to the rim. SIMEX tyres are AWSOME.

maybe the rims i bought are shit they're standard sunrasias's but mud gets in the bead on 30+psi.
do you find the simex's cut easily mine have heaps of small cuts all on the side wall

I know at least 6 people (including me) that run Pedes, all flog em and all love em.

Sidewall damage, unfortunate but as they are rubber, like any tyre, it is still possible hole them although I still consider them to be much tougher than most tyres.

As for the bead, all tyres lose air if shit get's jammed in em. If you have steel rims, wire brush the entire rim bead back to shiny and closely inspect your tyre bead for gravel embedded in the rubber. The gravel in the rubber seems to be the culprit 90% of the time this problem occurs.

I've seen these tyre rolled off the rim, spinning full noise and still put back on the rims, aired up no prob. Not many tyres would do that ... Pedes ROCK!

Wouldn't surprise me, sunny's aren't the most "high quality" rim.

I do agree with your chipping comment, mine are showing their use as well.

have you been wheeling in the wet ... wet tyres slice up pretty easy compared to dry rubber ...

I would be checking your rims, dude.

At 30psi they should be hanging on tighter than a one armed man dangling from a cliff

I don't imagine that you are flogging them harder than the winch challenge/OBC boys do, so the problem is most likely with your rims.

They do seem to cut up easily...but then look at the terrain that you tend to want to drive in because you have them on

I have 36 x 12.5 pedes and I love em...

I have had probs keeping them on the bead but it was my own fault.... a combination of 10" rims and too low presures..

i run 34x11.5x16 on a shorty 40 run them at 6psi never popped a bead. like to run them to bout 10psi, awesome traction.

I run my JT2's 34x10.5x15 at 17 off road and never popped a bead. Got crap in the bead once but that was my own fault. I've been wanting to try lower, might try 12 next.

i ran 35 x 10.5 pedes on my rangie and they never came off but i only ran them at 15 Psi with no beadlocks

ive just bought 36 x 12.5 pedes for my GQ and am going out this weekend to test them out , ill probably run them at about 15 - 18 again

they do show their wear very easily but they work awesome and the sidewalls are very thick.

i just put a hole in my pro comp x terrains ( wouldnt recommend them) , that is why i went out and bought another set of pedes

i run 32 x 9.5 ETs on mine, and although ive enver popped one off the bead, i do continually have problems with dirt in the beads creating minute leaks

Simex are underated, but suck on rock

I've had problems with my pedes on the mav, loose beads on the sunnys, but mostly after a lack of maintenance - crud in the beads. Never had a problem with the trekkers though - always been good.

3 sets - love 'em.

i run 35x10.5x16 pedes with tubes on 7inch rims at 10psi and never had a problem,they just bite in and ask for more.

hey blkmav you could start a bomb fire with the amount of wood stuck in the pedes.

Most of the guys I have seen running jt2's and 'pedes have had them fall off. They seem to come off pretty easy IMHO.

They are very effective in a lot of victorian conditions, biting very well in surfaces with yield, but in dry/rock conditions they don't seem to be as good as a swamper, my tyre of choice for years.

They seem to be an excellent OBC/winch challenge type of tyre, but for noodling about, my money is on a swamper.

used to run my 35 pedes with 15 psi and tubes. They never came off but would sometimes get dirt in the bead which just meant they had to be cleaned out when you get home. Now Im running 36 pedes with mechanical beadlocks and they are fawking awsome. Gotta love 10 psi....

It seems most of the problems are related more to the rim rather then the tyre, you get what you pay for thus those $165 sets of sunraisers aren't really worth it are they

You guys need to remember.

These tyres (Simex ETs) were originally designed specifically for the Rainforest Challenge were the terrain is just pure sloppy mud!

Hey matto about time i seen you on here mate. One of the comments made before about the tyres being wet may have something to do with that slash in the tyre, but it did seem to tear apart very quickly!! As for your bead not sealing on that other rear tyre one of my mt/rs was completely flat the next day so am having the same problems. Heres a pic of matto's tyre. It was only spinning for a couple of seconds before it tore apart.

As you can see I lot of people love there Simex so you might have had a bad tyre or just bad luck.

Simex's are tough but everything does have a breaking point exept PATROLS .

hey bigmav in that pic it looks like the tyre has been driven for a distance with no air in it (looks like the split going most of the way around the tyre)

There was about 25psi in the tyre I think. It split all the way around the tyre like you said. He had to reverse a couple of metres where it then rolled off the rim. He was in an almost vertical position when she went so would've been hard to change the tyre. Matto did you try out a warranty claim?
