Safari speed alarm

There is an annoying speed alarm that goes off in my import Safari when I hit 110kph.

Anyone know how to remove/disable this and if it is a big job?

I"m no rev head, but cruising along the highway it is frustrating having to keep it under 110 or put up with the annoying beep.

Thanks,

Martin

mine doesnt have a speed alarm, but do what I did and break the instrument cluster :D the speedo works sometimes, fuel is fine, temp is fine and oil pressure fine, so I got by what my tacho says. Cant even remember why I pulled it out and how it broke but bah whoooo cares

You will find it behind the cluster, its pretty obvious. Take out the cluster and unscrew it. Make sure you put the screws back in by memory.

Job done, shouldnt take very long and yep it WAS as annoying as hell.

Thanks, I"m a bit nervous of pulling the instrument cluster out incase I can't get it back or screw it up....

I'll have a careful peak behind the dash and see what it looks like!

It is pretty straight forward, 5 screws for the surround and unplug the rear demister, washer/wiper and dimmer switches then 4 screws for the cluster and 3 plugs at the back of that.

The speed alarm is the round black thing with 2 wires attached to the back of the cluster.

Thanks MQ patrol, I'll have a look at it this weekend.

While I'm at it I have another question..........the centre dash panel containing the heater controls has no backlighting..........I havent checked the fuses yet to see if one has blown.....just wondering........

I assume it is illuminated?????

If so I"ll check fuses and if not have a look at pulling the panel off to see if a globe has blown

Thanks

Yes, yes it is indeed as is the ashtray, lighter and the inclinometer/altitude gauges on the roof - all these bulbs were dead in mine. I havent pulled the heater controls out yet.
