I'm running a suziwest cam. cost about $150. Came from a local supplier. I think it is the same as the suzisport one.

Seems good. nice improvement over std. coupled with extractors, even better. Good torque curve.

cheers

Mine was installed. There done by camshaft engineering.

cam itself was 80 mind you.

Red_Zook - check your local cam mobs or check the us one. I have got the specs for mine somewhere i can get you.

Done that LWB yet? :)

cheers

ah ok all sound good, my old cam was bascily a "Hi-Rev" cam absoultly useless on rocks, no power under about 4000revs, awsome around 6500 tho, also wouldnt isdle under 1000 revs. sounded tuff at isdle Very lumpy  i want more power round 2000 mark im thinking. nic what revs does yours do best at?

Depends on if you are running hoppers or not as well.

Mines best around 3500. The 1.3s dont seem to have much lower than 2000 anyway.

Mine will idle at 900. Sounds lumpy as when about 700rpm.

May be same sort of cam. Thats the only one i have seen for the zook.

cheers

I had a standard one reground for my 1.6 (had 1.3 head on it) for lower end torque .. I spoke to the cam grinder bloke .. and he made me up what I was after .. price was around $60 from memory ..

with the addition of extractors, ported head with 1.6 exhaust valves and 1.3 intake valves (the smaller intake valves promotes better intake velocity etc) for better low end torque response, the larger exhaust valves for good cylinder scavanging .. meaning more air and well atomised fuel = good burn and good power .. without running out of breath all the way to redline and well beyond.

what needs to be done to fit the 1.6ex valves in? I have heard people doing it but not how.

cheers

mmm now this sounds like a good mod to go with a supercharger and EFI.

What would the best cam be to use with a charger?
Would a torque/tow cam be good or would I be better off talking to a cam grinder bloke?

Phil, Camtech Stage 1 regrind is a torque cam. They are in Sydney. Fast turnaround. I GAINED a gear round town! Faster response off idle, heaps of midrange and a higher redline--what more could you ask for?

Well no wonder you need to rev your higher with a cam like that lol.

To give u an idea with my 29"s i change gear around 3500 every time and up to 4000K tearing around is about onroad limit, offroad 5K is really thrashing it. Mine idles under 1K.

But bigger tyres would mean reving it more, ill let u know what i tear around with the mongrels soon.

Jarred i recon i could scare you with some of the revs my old engen (fully balaced port and plished etc etc) used to pull, i remember on the way to a mates place after a dv4wdc meeting with 5ppl in my zoook    and the 3 guys in the back jaws dropping as it hit about 7500rpm racing gricey  but now im going to a near standard motor so i figure i need a bit of beta cam.

The 5 person trick is always a bit of a struggle up steep hills :)
