There is a small "thimble" filter just inside the inlet for the injector pump. Take the inlet hose off, remove and clean this filter.

Mine did the same thing until this small filter was cleaned, gave it a new lease of life. It now pulls like a 12yo boy, right up to redline.

Hello buger man,
I have had a similar problem with my GU with the same specs. First of all i changed the fuel and air filters, drained the fuel tanks, added a CAV filter before the standard fuel filter, new fuel lines from the CAV etc, replaced the tiny little thimble filter inside the injector pump in the banjo fitting where the fuel line comes in, problem solved.....so i thought! after bouncing around on the rough roads up here (Weipa) found that the problem was recurring after a few days, 6x. I finally found that the washers either side of the banjo fitting where deteriorating as they have some sort of coating on them and where clogging up the thimble filter all the time. I replaced them with aluminium washers and have not had the problem since. I will be taking the car to Cairns soon to get a proper injector pump and injector service to make sure.
I hope this helps.
