Use a punch to knock the pin partly through the lever and a pair of bent long nose pliers to hold it once you have enough to purchase on. Then gently knock the pin the rest of the way through being careful not to drop the pin into the box. If you drop the pin into the box use a screwdriver to locate it and place a magnet at the other end of the screwdriver (against metal of course). This will allow you to pick it up.
The transfer case can then be seperated from the box. If you have a body lift you will have no trouble going above the rear cross member - if you don't you may need to remove the extension housing at the back of the transfer case to get enough clearance. Pull the case back as far as you can then push the lever you removed the pin from as far forward as possible.
The case should now be able to be dropped at the front allowing it to go under the box and then forward to clear the crossmember.
It is a job made far easier with two people - one in the car checking the shift lever and one underneath in charge of moving the transfer case. Take your time and make sure the transfer is stable on the jack (we made up a flat plate with two "stays" to stop the case from trying to twist) as this makes the job a LOT EASIER.

Thanks buddy, advice taken and greatly appreciated. I was stuffed there for a while but I got the job done and the box is back in ready to be bolted up tomorrow morning. Thanks again, Andy
