High all, just was wondering why my cabin always smells like petrol? Does anyone know or have any ideas why this is so?

Hello. The petrol smell is a very common problem (I take it you've got a Feroza?).

Take the rear right speaker out of the trim and then remove the entire trim panel. Behind there you'll find some rubber tubes running up into the cabin from the fuel tank. There are a couple of bolts that hold some bits up on the metal part of the panel- remove them. You should be able to see a black plastic tank and a smallish one way valve.

The valve often cracks or you may have a hairline crack in the black plastic tank. The tank is best checked by removing it from the vehicle: get some hose and connect two of the inlets/ outlets together, place another length of hose on the remaining inlet/outlet (they are all joined together internally so it doesn't matter which ones you join etc.). Place the tank in a bucket of water and blow into the open ended hose to pressurise the tank- if its got a crack you'll be able to see it now.

Once you find the crack in either item sand them a bit around the cracked area and then use Araldite to cover the crack, with some fibreglass matting (if you've got it, for additional strength).

Once it's dry you shouldn't have any more problems. My fuel economy improved by 2l/100km once I'd fixed mine!
