Ok I have located the breather and I want to extend it. However this fitting is similer to the front diff and is a pressed in fitting :? unlike the rear which is screwed in.

It has a hard plastic dust cap which I figured If i could get it off I could extend from that point. Of course that was to damn easy to say ............. and not so easy in practice  .

Has anyone any ideas on how to sort it out. I was considering contacting Holden and ask how to get it out and how to replace it which will proberly be OH bring it in we can do it :? .

At least the diff breathers are now completed using the existing on the front just put a filter at the top.

I also have a 1997 Rodeo. I had a bit of trouble doing the gearbox breather as I couldn't get the plastic cover off either. In the end I cut the plastic cover off with side cutters. It's never going back on anyway.
The tubing you require is a larger diameter to the diff breathers too.

I mentioned it on here at the time. Although the thread has no more info in it than above.

Yeah i figured that would be one of the methods .... Damn not a lot of room to be side cutting is there :?

In fact will be a hard bend at the top may have to use high temp rubber instead of reinforced flex like i used in the rear diff breather.

Oh well will try and get off and find out.

Thanks

When I used the sidecutters I just chopped the plastic part out bit by bit. Didn't take too long.
I used the cheapest of air line and had no probs with the bend. However the part that runs past the exhaust manifold is a little browner than it used to be.
If you need more room do a body lift :)

Cool. I still haven't fitted a filter to the end of mine. Just left the tubing with about 5 big coils in it :)
