G200 Dipstick

Post by supa-troll »

I have an '85 Jackaroo which has the G200 motor. When I purchased it I was concerned that the dipstick wasn't the right one. Ordered another one which arrived today and it is the same. My question is, is the dipstick meant to be 4 inches long because the tube it sits in is about a foot long and comes more than half way up the side of the motor. This dipstick never shows any oil. Any help greatly appreciated.

The sump might be wrong. There are a lot G series motors and all the sumps fit. Gemini’s have a longer dip stick 190mm from the seal to the bottom of the stick. So you need to no what the sump is off go walk around some wreckers and look at Gemini’s, rodeo's and jackaroo's. See if any are the same as yours. If you measure from the head of the sump bolts down 75mm that should be full mark on the stick
Also check the amount off oil required to get to that level
gemini has 3.2l
rodeo G180 has 3.2
rodeo G200 has 4.5
jackaroo has 4.5
If it has a small sump and you go 4x4ing I would change the sump too a bigger one
hope this helps
