Some of you may have seen the July issue of Four Wheeler magazine, there is a "weak links strong fixes" section on Toyota and 4 runner.

There is a screw in (read direct replacement) for the diff breather to install a hose barb. Celica part number 90404-51319 apparently out of a Celica intake manifold, same thread as the diff.

The genuine Toyota allen key style diff drain plug part number 90341-18021, saves smashing the hex head plug when navigation McDonald's car parks.

As far as the diff breather goes dont even worry about the part number and all that bollocks. Walk in with your stock diff breather and they just look at it and give you a brass hose barb to match.

Walked straight into ENZED with both stock breathers, and walked out with both barbed fittings for under $10. From memory, they are 1/8" BSP???? thread...

unfortunately i don't get time to get anywhere through business hours and also work saturdays. I'm sure there are plenty of things like this that i could get cheaper by doing the footwork but just don't get a chance.

Maybe we should start a Toyota "cheap tricks" thread.

Anyone with an IFS hilux know how to get a diff breather on the front diff given the clearance to the sump (on 2L diesel) is about 10mm)

I like the allen key sump plugs tho... i think mine are cactus already!
