Sierra rear shock mounts

Post by nicbeer »

What have people done to the upper rear shock tower.

I have just blown the mount of the chassis again. The first time was over articlating the rear and i think the shock pulled the mount out. The second was last night snatching a ford courier out. Pulled my side ways quite a bit and i think that snapped it out.

I have thought of running a bolt through the orignal brace but dunno if strong enough.

Pics would be great. ((Dewse, what did you do in ya tintop))

cheers

sounds like a perfect time to inboard them a bit. either mount a box tube between original mounts and drill/cut in new upper mounts or drill and bolt shocks to a new position.

I did the first option as it is reversible.

i used a 40mm box tube and drilled holes in it for new mounts and to slip onto existing mounts. you need to cut a section outfor the shock to slide into the box and you need to half moon it so the shock can swivel sideways when flexing. Bolt the shocks into the tube first then mount it on the existing mounts. I had pics but did this a long time ago and cant find them.
