I did a search, didnt find out what i needed to know.
I have some 35" tyres sitting on rims at home ready to put on my old hilux, and wanted to know if it is advisable to move the axle foward with re-location plates ( 3/4, 1 inch)?? it has 2" springs, and hopefully, soon to have extended shackles to fit the tyres.
secondly, what other mods have to be done to make a re-location work?? i didnt know if the steering is effected, do you need a different length drag link? so many questions....!!

do you have standard steering or cross over?
If you move your diff forward with standard steering you'll need an adjustable drag link.
With either type of steering you'll need a driveshaft spacer to compensate for the diff being moved forward.
It's easier to answer questions when people know more about your car, eg what year, body lift etc etc

i did this a little while ago, pretty easy, although i just redrilled the spring perches rather than used plates..
pretty much all u need is an adjustable drag link, and adjustable diff locator
u will also need to re drill the bump stops on top so they sit inplace, the way the u bolts hook over them means they wont fit on the locator bolt in the spring pack unless re drill them, or i spose u could leave them out..
pretty much apart from that its done, ur tail shaft will end up to short, fix it either with a spacer or best is get the retubed longer then re balanced..
whole mod only took me about an hour on my own, hard movin a diff on your own enough to get a drill in there to drill the perches, way simpler with plates
go for it i say best mod for clearance!

There are a few guys on this board that run 37's with only 2 inch lift, cut guards and diff move forward.
