That is a mate's car, did you hear what he paid for the motor and auto complete?

L series have been covered before - the L28 patrol at 88kw is about as low spec as it comes.

Due to method of testing used over the years the spces may vary slighlty but here's the L series replacements....

L24 240Z 114kw and L24 skyline EFI similar

L26 260Z 123kw C260 111kw

L28 280Z 138kw Skyline & C280 111kw

L20 turbo efi exist as well, as do the L20 triple carb jobs.

My recommendation is to go more modern though - RB series supposed to fit to L series box with RB bellhousing buit no personal experience.

Given teh price with RB20 turbos... 140-160kw depending on spec....

would have been my plan in an MQ.

Other good option ED onwards falcon 6 with 144-157kw :D Marks adaptors and Dellow doa kit for them.

if i had no budget, i would use a RB30 blok with a RB26DETT head of a GODZILLA GTR, two massive turbos and a waterto air intercooler. That thing would pop monos on a long wheel base.

would be good for wank value, but would lack down low grunt tryin to spool 2 snails..

Yeah but who sticks 2 massive turbos on there?

Either two smaller sequentials or one massive one for wank value.

Setup for response and not outright power the 3.0L block has a very nice torque curve.

Personally I wouldn't want to take an RB off road, I had enough troubles with them keeping it on the road (out of the mud etc).

Carby V8 ftw.

look guys, it is if i had no money nd in the extreme winch challenges u barely use low range, lets be realistic, put in a 4.8 with a nice sized turbo nd a water to air intercool, nice torque all the rev range

You're in melbourne go speak to one of the Zed workshops and see how much power they can get out of your L28 and how much capacity they can go to... you will get a massive shock.

If just going a V8.
Are you planning on doing any long trips with this thing. As might be worth just running the thing on straight gas and have carby in the back for when you fark up and run out of gas.
Oh will need a small petrol tank to.

There's a bloke in the next town with a 454 for sale......

You'll need a couple of GOLD visa cards and a jigsaw.......

the blower wont fit under the bonnet of a MQ :finger:

Search the tradingpost they have commodore injected 5ltr's in there nearly every week. Start around or just over $2000 for a VN motor and upto $4500 for the VT or HSV engines.

ok, well the story so far.

1/ Bellhousing on its way to suit a chev turbo pattern. :D

2/ Was going to get a efi 350 but more $$$ than i thought, i could get it for $3k with loom & all bolt on bits such as alternators & ps pumps so not so bad price but a bit much for what i want to spend

3/ I'm open to offer's suggestions on motors...... even u kingy :D

Nah turbo XR6T better than vh45. as it only just spins wheels in 3rd low(35's).
