My brother's 92 ranige viscous coupling needs replacing is it worth while changing it to a center diff lock like my 88? He is planing on fitting F/R lockers soon and is wondering if the viscous is good enough off road.

+1 to the LT230 - the VC is poor offroad IMO doesn't give you the ability to easily lock the wheels up in either braking or accelerating

The LT230 is easy enough conversion.
I would also advise if you decided to do it that you get all the bits with the transfer when you buy it (linkages, etc..) saves chasing up bits that you should have. The LT230 front driveshaft will need to be scourced because the VC one is 40mm longer.
The handbrake bracket will also need to be modified to suit as the VC bracket is diffrent (but better IMO
). You may also need to cut into the console to allow for the leaver to move left for the CDL to be activated.
The actual fitting of the Lt230 is a weekend job, it's all the fiddly stuiff that takes time. The end results are well worth it. Pricewise for the LT230 about a $1K should be your max price for one inc. all the bits like I mentioned.
Good luck with it if you decide to do it. Bar the extra noise there still more positives that outweigh it.
