NEED HELP !!!!!!!

what wires should i put a fake alarm led light into in a 90 lwb GQ so that
it flashes when the ignition is off but shuts off when the car is running
it has 2 wires red and yellow which is which ?

anyone help ?

maybe your suposed to run it through a N/C contact on a relay that is operated by the accesories switch

ok worked out red is + yellow is ground

what wires would have power ( ie memory wires ) to tap into so when the ignition is turned on the led stops flashing ?

You could just wire the LED earth through something like the handbrake switch- that way it will only work when the handbrake is on. Then wire the positive to a permanent 12v source (and fuse it just in case.)

Or you could put it somewhere you don't see it while driving, and not worry about turning it off?

The best way to wire the LED up is red wire to permanent +12v then you wire the black or negative to an accessories or ignition circuit. I've done this on 2 cars no problems after 7 years.

What then happens is when the accessories/ignition is on there is 12v on each side of the LED so it doesn't light up. But when you turn off the accessory circuit there is +12v difference, so what happens is the electricity will look for a way to get to the negative of the battery, usually in the positive wire of the car stereo or the dashboard instruments and out the negative wire. The power/current flowing through the LED & stereo is only a trickle so it's not going to power on the stereo. The only time I've seen this not work is when a mate had an old on/off volume knob stereo which left no path if he turned the stereo off, stereo was left turned on at the knob it worked fine.

Another variation of this is wiring a small buzzer between the headlight switch output and accessoeries to remind you to turn your lights off.
