Hey all - had a chat to one of those guys who seem to know everything about engines - I have just over 200K on the Feroza. He said that Castrol Deisel oil is the best to use..... I am using the GTX3 Diesel.

BTW< didn't beleive him, so I checked the castrol book, and it says to do that. Still wasn't sure so searched the net and seems it is the case....

Diesel oil has a lot more 'detergents' and crap in it, also low on stuff that can granulate, so it runs smoother and cleans the insides out better than normal or even synthetic - costs almost as much though! Seriously though, she runs smoother just with a change to this stuff, so.....

In case it helps you....

Cleaning out the engine can cause leaks from gaskets etc.

^^ yep, sometimes that sludge build-up can be good for a high milage engine.

what oil where you running? diesel oil is normaly 15w40 which on a worn engine could be a little thin.

Not sure what was in there - only got he car Friday and doing all the servicing as I have no idea what the precious owner did!!!

Their recomendation was to use on older engines - guess we will see how it survives :-)
