i have a GU patrol and the ignition is playing up. im an electrician so i have acess to push buttons and the like for a temporary fix untill i can get it sorted properly. My question is, can i just run power through a push button and to the solinoid terminal or is there somthing extra that i need to do?????? remember this will be a temporary fix (which could mean 6 months for me.......) so simple stuff is what i want to do.

U should be able to run the power to the solenoid thru the button, cause all the load is taken directly from the battery to the starter. The push button only swithes the solenoid. Thats my opinion anyway

I think you'll find most vehicles also remove power from unnecessary circuits (eg. accessories circuit, wipers, fan etc.) when the ignition is turned to the "START" position. That way you've got full power for the starter motor.
Guess you could turn the key to "START" and hold it there while pushing the button. That would have the same effect.
