1KZ-T into a Bundy.....

I have to do an engine change very very shortly cos my 2L engine is on its last legs.

I have had my eyes on a 1KZ-T engine for some time. I would like to know if its possible to fit the 1KZ-T engine from a Hilux Surf into my bundy. The engine mountings have to be changed I know. The current gearbox I have is R151, which I would want to utilise on the 1KZ-T.

I understand there are major problems mating the Surf 1KZ-T to the bundy gearbox. Is this correct? If so would there be a way to overcome this problem?

Why 1KZ-T from a Hilux Surf you ask? Well its half the price of a landcruiser one thats why!!

Appreciate your reply(s) and comment(s).

a 1KZ is a 1KZ, they are the same block so the bolting up is the same no matter where you get it from. They are fitted with R151F gearboxes in prados, so is you get one with a bellhousing you can probably bolt it up, not sure if there is a difference in the input shaft but I'd put a dollar on them being the same. This is a smarter swap than a 13B-T - more power and much less weight.

Thanks for the reply dumbdunce...and on the 13Bt thread.

If your right, then I am wondering why the mechanic told me its not possible. IF the block is the same, which they should be than should be no problem. Maybe there is a problem with the shafts.
There was a thread last year about this I found, but I dunno if the guy actually installed it.

Talk to Lachlan at Offroad Industries. They have just done a 1KZ into a Bundy.
