Duel LPG Tanks .... (for Andrew .... BRT )

As per phone conversation.....
Shot taken from behind.
The petrol tank is the one with the ARB SPORT sticker on it

it utilises the original filler tube etc and holds 38 lits of petrol.
The LPG tank directly behind it is my "MAIN" tank, it holds 72 lits of LPG.
You can just make out the reserve tank beside the transfer / rear drive shaft. The reserve tank holds around 50lits of LPG.

Pic of the Stainless tank I just got for $150 with 10 years date on it..... this tank will be fitted up this w/end to the Commodore.
The Commodore is getting duel LPG tanks ....... the Stainless one & ......
This white one shown here in the back of the patrol, I got tonight for $100....has 9 years left on it !

I have the belly LPG tank and have also been thinking about the extra tank in the rear near the Petrol one, does this pu to much stress on the chasey??
Did you do it yourself or get the gas ppl to do it for you, as was also thinking of linking the two tanks to fill of the one filler inlet.

Is there any heat build up with the exhaust being nearby?? or is just the angle of the dangle that makes it look close?

Not at all, remember I've removed the main petrol tank.... thats a weight reduction of around 80kilos ( full of petrol )..... but I've added a tank that weighs in around 15 kilos and with 75 lits of lpg ( full ) that comes out to roughly 40 kilos of gas.
LPG is around HALF the weight of petrol

.....
So my 15 KG LPG tank + 40KGs of gas = 55KGs .... even if I've stuffed up the calculation by 25% ..... LPG is a lighter system !

The laws are very SPECIFIC..... one must be a licenced LPG fitter to do an installation........ An instalation by law means "completed"
Like everything ........ there's ways around it, you can do all the work yourself BUT then find a licenced fitter to sign off on it, ( all he has to do really is tighten up one nut and he's "installed the system"
Its well worth the $50 to the fitter to tighten up that last nut and then test it for leaks, specially when its cash in the hand

Less heat build up at that area compared to the heat that used to be on the STD petrol tank......
LPG tank thickness = 6mm
Petrol tank thickness = 1.2mm
takes alot longer to heat thicker material
Its not really clear in the pic but the zorst is around 3" from the LPG tank and was a heat shield on the muffler.... the shield was useless because all it did was hold mud etc and held the heat for a much longer period once the mud was "packed" in the gap. This led to the early death of a few mufflers so I didnt refit it to this mufler....so far so good
With the shield removed the heat that the reserve tank gets is barely noticeble....maybe 5 degrees warmer than the chassis rail. and thats under heavy off road conditions....onroad theres SFA differance at all.

I like it,
as LPG has always ben the poor cousin to serious fourby work compared to diesel operations, due to the extended range from a well set up oil burner. If you can carry more LPG, good on you.
Oil in Baxter on the weekend, 131.7 and LPG at the same servo 37.9. (30.9 with a shopper docket at Safeways a few k's up the road)
