Post by Nisspatrol »

Gday folks
i was wondering what problems people have had with rego, especially in the NT, read below for veh specs, and the springs have dropped to about 3-4 in lift(new ones coming after veh registered), im partically interested on any info on the TAC form i hear about?
Ps the GQ is currently unregistered

u r screwed mate, they will take it on a hoist and go top to bottom, unless everthing is engineered, u have very little hope, the only way to do it is to take the springs out and put lowert ones in and if it has a body lift take that out lol. U might need to take those top lights off ya bull bar, dnt noe if they are legal. Everything else is kool, jus make sure all the interior and seats are in tip top condition. I had to register a GQ with a dodgy body lift and a dodgy suspension, no way would they let that pass lol
GOOD LUCK< JUS TRY AND SEE WHAT YOU HAVE TO FIX>THEN FIX IT

Definately take the top lights off = obstructing vision.
If they are real picky the other lights are sticking out from the bar a bit = not allowed.
+ suspension...

Nice looking truck though, for 5 minutes anyway (black)

the only thing i see wrong is the 6inch spring lift and the lights, just take the springs out and borrow some lower ones off ya mate. It says in ure nic name it has a switzler turbo, that shouldnt matter for rego, just insurence, wen my mate got a turbo, it went from $430 to $970, cause it is a engine modifacation
GOOD LUCK

Mate, def leave the lights above the bar in the shed during rego. if the suspension is a legal kit and/or you have an engineers cert you will be fine. Same with the body lift.
If in doubt, ring MVR in Goyder Rd (Darwin) and they'll be able to set you straight.

you can obtain a TAC form from the friendly staff at the pit shed in goyder road. This form will come with an information booklet. The purpose of the TAC form is to include all of your proposed modifications to your vehicle. It is then submitted and goes before the TAC (Transport Advisory Commitee). They meet once a month. They will discuss your proposed mods and either diss allow them, allow them or ask for additional clarification / more information. The more information you put on your form the better. It is also advisable to speak to a member of the commitee prior to handing in your form to speak about your mods (the pit shed can give you a list of comitte members). Your car will be required to be inspected by a comitte member and then go over the pits. The commitee member will pass the mods, the pits will check for the usual roadworthy stuff. If you do it this way all the mods approved on your form will be on your rego and be 100% legal. You will be issued with a "pink slip" form that notes the mods and approval. Alternativelly, you can just put some 2" springs in and get it regoed then put your 6" springs back in later on.
