Timing belt replacement interval

The daihatsu service manual recommends replacement of the timing belt at 100,000km intervals. Is this a reasonable thing? Mine has done 180,000km with a factory service replacement at 100,000. Should I be contemplating changing it now or waiting for the 200K mark?

Change it now!

My last Daihatsu engine died when the belt snapped prematurely; as well as the engine fitted before that (but that one had an unknown service history.)

change it if your worried about it. Its easy to do yourself if you have a fair idea about mechanics. i think my belt only cost me around $50

I replaced mine at 92,000km. The ilder holding the belt was just about seized. Still got it some where as a reminder of what could of happened......... ;)
