Hey all,
My zook wont change from 2nd to first easily when moving, I am going up a hill in 2nd and It wont change from 2nd to 1st so I have to stop the car on a dam hill to get up in first....
Do I need to use the Double declutch method to make it work and if so is this the way to do it:
Push the clutch to the floor
Put the gear lever into neutral
Lift the clutch off the floor
Give the accelerator a little blip to rev the engine up
Push the clutch to the floor
Put the gear lever into the desired gear
Lift the clutch off the floor
The car is a 1992 Sierra with a normal 5 speed
Thanks,
Matt

Hey Matt,
I had the exact same problem with my 92 sierra when I first bought it. Even asked the exact same question on here just after I got it. Simple answer is, I don't think that the sierra is meant to change back to first on the fly very easily. However, after it was suggested on here, I found that all gear changes(including 2nd to 1st) was made a lot easier after replaceing the gearbox oil, and putting in an addative like Nulon or similar. Timeing the change to the revs helps even more as well. Hope this helps.

mate mine does the same ting - and if i jam it in there it goes CLUNK! reallllly loud =P haha
ive found rev matching the best method... just, while clutching to change to first, rev it up, just a kick of the pedal is enough - no real exact science to it, but make sure it gets around 2000rpm, while doing that smack it into 1st and it should glide right in.
i am a super fast gear changer though - if the gear wasnt planning on going in it wont matter with me - i seem to hit it in that hard its going in no matter what =P

20KM!!!
You really have to come to a stop to put it into 1st i find, i prolly go about 2-5km ie really slow preferably stopped before changing back to 1st, you can do it easily uphill if your fast changing gears with out completly stopping.
What sort of hill is it that u need to put it into 1st going that fast?
Oh yea and the soft kick works a treat to lol...
Guess im use to it, mine is temperamental about reverse and 1st when its cold especialy gota do a few combos to get it in easy lol

When we leave our street, we turn straight into a hill, so by the time I got enough 1st speed, I change to 2nd and dont get enough 2nd speed to make it up the hill and I need to change back to first, So I learnt to only go up the hill in 1st...
We also got a big hill we need to get to our house, I rev the engine like crazy going up the gears and finally get to like 70km in 3rd and get up there
