Quick Poll.
Who has done a 1UZ-FE transplant into a hilux and broken a gear box?
I see most of people who have done the swap have kept the standard hilux box.
Exactly how hard can it be driven before it vaporises the internals?
I know I have read of one article to date where someone destroyed one drag racing. Other than that everyone seems to be getting away with it.

They tell me the best hilux/4runner box to use is the r15* almost the same as the r154 used in the twin turbo 6pots (soarer supra?) these should be plenty strong enough

Dude I've always thought it was the diff us lux owners needed to worry about. The gearbox's while not quite Nissan strength have aways been pretty good.

I probably should have answered 'have a different box' but I ticked no..... my 4Runner has got the R150F, so is stronger than the hilux boxes. The R150F is holding up great!!!
The front diff is another story....but its a weak as piss IFS one anyway, so its bound to break now and than no matter what.

After a bit of reading the R15x looks like the strongest choice out of the toyota boxes.
Just wondering if anyone has kept ther W5x or G5x series gearbox?

Just a quick one, I have a 86 Model FRP Top Cruiser - 3F petrol model...
5 Speed Manual - Don't know gearbox code, would it be strong enough, just been rebuilt?
Is this one of the boxes that have been mentioned above?
