Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Bashed my ARB delux bar into a rock in the Watagans on the weekend, and its twisted the bar along its length and width.

Does anybody know anyplace or person that can twist it back to straight without too much hassle??? Dont need it absolutely perfect, but close enough will do.

bend it back with a winch !!

Not the safest in the world, but I realined my alloy bar with a snatch strap as some well placed trees

its a steel bar, and its NOT BENT, its TWISTED, so i need to UN-TWIST it!

How fast/hard were you going that you managed to twist an ARB bar? I rweckon if you have managed to twist it it is beyond fixing. A dent is one thing but twisting it is completely different and I'd reckon retwisting it back is just going to either stuff it further and make it quite weak

Is it still on the vehicle?

If it is and you have to take it off, be very careful as it could be storing a lot of energy and could spring when it comes off the chassis

How is your chassis looking?

i didnt think i was going that fast. i was going thru a muddy bog, and it was on a u bend, and as i went thru it, a rock in the bog under that back wheel thru the car sort of up and sideways a bit, and as i had my foot on the gas, it jumped, landed, gripped and speared me into the rock. i mustve been doing less than 20ks, but it hit in the left hand front, banged up the top round bar and right on the corner of the bar where it goes back to the wheel arch.

i figured as id hit it in this posi its twisted it. U can see on the mounts where the bar mounts on the brackets that attach to the chassis where the bar has been pushed back. its exposed some clean bracket paint, mb 5mm. Its actually twisted the bar onto the bonnet (and strang back to curent position), and the cb aerial has hit the bonnet protector, cracked that and put a small ding in the leading edge of the bonnet. given me the shits i tell ya!!

this is a pic of the truck showing where ive hit it and where its twisted. its nothing i really cant live with, but if its easy to fix, i'll fix it, if not, touch up paint and leave it. I wont to modify bar to suit bodylift, so could do both at the same time.

Ive considered the stored energy, but as its not THAT screwed, it should be ok.

im getting the chassis looked at over the weekend by some 4wd specialist panel beaters. fingers crossed that it aint buckled or shifted!

Mate, I had this problem when I bought a 2nd hand ARB bar for my paj that had been in a bad smash.

If you can, leave it attached untill you straighten it!

Get an oxy or two, heat up as much of the bar as you can and then swing off a really long pole. (the pole needs to be like 2-3 metres long)

Keep heating it untill the bar untwists and it will get very close if not perfect.

I did mine on the ground and was difficult because it was twisted way more than yours and also had major warps in it.

It can be done. You'll have to get it re-painted or powder coated once you've attacked it with heat but.
