Leaking Fuel Filler

I have tried for some time to stop the fuel filler cap from leaking.
When I fill it, which is only on trips, fuel leaks and dribles down the side of the truck.
There is a screw behind the rubber seal plate that I have screwed in, out sideways and it still leaks.
Has anyone had a similar problem and found a way to resolve it?
Thanks
Steve

G'day guys,
Ive got an 84 rangie with the same problem.
I bought and fitted a new flat seal to the cap and mine still pisses out fuel when full or hooking into a left hand turn.
Is the O ring the flat rubber seal you were referring to?

Cheers,

Tony

With the older style fillers, I found that streching the spring and cutting another piece of rubber as a backup seal stops mine from leaking.

But look at the o-ring first. I pulled the tank out of mine and re-fitted it and found that the seal was leaking badly, found that I had not seated the filler neck properly
