When my Feroza is cold it is hard to change gears, is this because the oil is to thick or is there ann underlying problem
. If anyone has come across this problem I would appreciate any advice

Put some Redline Shockproof Lightweight oil into the gearbox- you'll be amazed at the difference.

Do you have amsoil over there? Supposed to be a better gear oil without the waxy additives. Red Line is only about $6.00-$7.00 a quart over here...$28.00 a gallon. Royal Purple is supposed to be pretty good also. Maybe look for an industiral grade synthetic over there. Some companys make stuff for trucking lines, industrial pressure pumps that run 24-7 and the like. I would think that you could find something that is made over there cheaper than Red Line.

You'll only need two litres for the gearbox and can get it for around $33 a litre. It's worth the money.
I've had it in my Feroza for about 18mths and recently changed the wife's Excel over to their normal gearbox oil (MT90?). She was amazed at the improvement- clunky hard cold shifts are now smooth as.

After taking murcods advice we put redline in our gearbox awhile ago and the difference is amazing well worth the money.

Yes, excellent for old worn boxes. Mine was a pig in cold weather (grating etc) due to the previous owner/s neglecting to ever change the box oil. Drives very nicely now.
I've even put the same shockproof stuff in my front diff as it's supposed to cushion shock loads and help things hold together. A lot of WRX owners and drag racers use the stuff.
I was very hesitant to spend the money on it, but am glad I did.

Yeh, I just priced some today $111 for 4 litres, they also said you could run it transfer case aswell as front and rear diffs. I am going to do it this weekend. Thanks for all the advice I'll let you know how it goes.

archille.... make sure u dont make the dumb mistake i did regarding your trasnfer case. that is cast alum. and is very weak around the threads if you overtighten em. thats what i did to mine and it split the threads open. been leakin for around 2 yrs now.
only way to fix it is to put in a new tranny (tried everything else to no avail) so be sure that you put those nuts on finger tight, then only go 1/4 to 1/2 of a turn with ur wrench. same goes for tranny and diff. plugs.

Have you tried black Siligasket, I use it on the crossthreaded plughole from my oilsump. After every oilchange I apply some of the goo on the thread, let it harden a little, the refill. Works for me all the time.

yep, tried everything. even the famous jb-weld which has worked everything else i applied it to. crack is too big and its on the very bottom of the thread, extends past the plug towards the front by around 1 and 1/2 to 2".
its always breaking off due to being scrapped, and too much pressure being exterted on it from the inside. im always breaking nuts and bolts cuz i tend to over tighten em without realizing it, until its too late.

I ordered enough Amsoil Severe Gear synthetic today to do the transmission, both transfer cases, front and rear differentials. I blew most all of my rebuilt tranny funds on the new tyres. Hopefully this will extend the life of my tranny till...probably next year when I can afford to do the tranny.
I was sold on the Amsoil over Red Line from talking to people who have used both. I was told that the Red Line uses a parafin type of substance and will leave deposites in the differentials that have to be chipped/ scraped off. He claimed a cooler diff and more miles to the gallon of gas from switching from Red Line to Amsoil. Also Marlin recomends Amsoil products and he is my hero.

The gear lube test is for only one comparison but the motor oil testing has a lot of other brands.
I want to get out on some trails but have been leery because of the transmission. Hopefully the new gear oil will quiet it down and I will feel better about taking it out to see what it can do. With 30 forward gears I shouldn't have to be too hard on it
